About Dog Houses PDF  | Print |  E-mail

What your dog actually needs.

I guess I should start by pointing out a few things offered in the industry that your dog doesn’t need.

  • Many units in the industry feature motion detector lighting. That drives a good dog nuts. They see best at low even lighting. The sudden increase in candle power blinds them.
  • Inside lighting is to be avoided at all costs. Studies show that this can cause pituitary imbalance which leads to all kinds of health issues. Our outside “Glow” lighting is more than enough.
  • Air tight compartments are touted as the way to build a good dog house. Well they’re not. Because your dog doesn’t sweat like we do they exhaust an immense amount of moisture when they breath. This raises the humidity in an air tight compartment to the point that there is a real opportunity for fungicidal health issues to crop up. In addition to Funguses and mold problems in an air tight compartment there also is a silent killer with a long term cumulative effect you probably never considered. Hypoxia, in lay terms that’s called suffocation. In short, A good dog house is one that breathes with the dog. Our units are not airtight.
  • Any dog house that is made using pressure treated woods or partical laminates such as OSB board on its interior compartmen is to be avoided because fumes such as organic arsnic or formaldihide can damage your dog's sense of smell or worse.
